Hurricane Sandy devastated the coastal areas of New Jersey and New York, destroying homes, boardwalks, and almost completely washing away numerous stretches of protective beach. The Rockaways were hit particularly hard and thousands of residents are still without power. The tremendous impact of the historic storm means years of rebuilding and piecing back together New York City's only beach communities, but for the short term we wanted to provide some information on where you can donate your supplies, clothing and money and volunteer to assist in clean up and relief work.
