Comments for this Album

I love this CD. I like every one of the songs on it! I just hate it how some people say they love mgmt and have only heard a couple songs like Time to Pretend, Electric Feel, and the Kids.

i can't even fathom how much i love this album, i of course adore congratulations, but some of my favorite songs are on oracular spectacular, for example the youth which has got to be one of the best songs ever made.
love you mgmt c:

I just bought this album. It's awesome. I have all the other MGMT songs on my iPod but I want to listen to them in the car and everywhere else. I also like the newer album. I like how they switched it up and showed all different sides to them and their music. From climbing to new lows to the remix cd, all the sounds on each track are pretty awesome. I was eatin' cheese got crumz on my lap.

yup Janine Nelson.

come to Philly again! Me and my friend already have plans to come.

I ABSOLUTELY LOOOOOVE MGMT!!!! I listen to the album weekly, and at least three songs from the album everyday, and I have yet to get tired of it. MGMT is MUSICAL GENIUS!!!

Best Money ive ever spent on anything in the history of history in history of earth and stuff

The best Album of my Generation.
MGMT created a new style of music, which is different to all other mainstream music.
I think the reason is that two of the ten songs were written during the study.
MGMT were not in Sony label and they even dont planned a musician career.
So they could make their own music, and the music is great and real and just doesnt act as music for earning money.
MGMT, keep your own style and dont let influence of label-bosses.

The first time I experienced "Oracular Spectacular", I felt that the beginning songs were much stronger than the songs toward the end. Yet I found that when listening to it many more times, it really grew on me. I underestimated it's power. This album is truly a great example of modern artistic contribution to humanity. Wonderful work indeed.

The music on this album is amazing! I don't know something about this album is just so awesome.

Very frist song i heard from Mgmt was Time to Pretend. Changed my music taste. I actually cant believe i thought that pop crap was good music. Havent looked back since.

I LOVE THIS ALBUM! Every song is something new and different and makes you just want to continue listening! It's great! This is the album that really got me hooked on MGMT. Smile

Oracular Spectacular is one of the best albums I have heard in a long time. I love their style it reminds me of Led Zeppelin with a touch of like David Bowie! You guys are awesome I hope there is more to come from these guys <3 Peace!

The "song love always remains" helped me out of a 4 month depression over my ex girlfriend.

this album changed my life... twice.
one time before i ever did drugs.. and then again when i listened to it while using LSD.
and there is nothing like seeing this band live.. just as good in concert as they are in the studio.
favorite band? you bet ur balls!

i love MGMT

I just purchased the vinyl version of this album, and I must say it sounds horrible! I have mp3's on my computer of MGMT that sound 10 times better. What's the point of a Vinyl album if it's master tape is a CD-Recording? Lots of compression, specially on the high-end!

The album has such great songs, it's a shame that the quality of the vinyl is so poor...

agh,LOL... this album cover.

first song i heard was electric feel, bought the album right away. will be buying more
never knew music could make you feel so good .
my inner hippi came out
thanks guys : )

its my first cd of mgmt i bought...

I loved each of the songs on this album the first time i listened to it!

No doubts, it's musical genius.

(My rating for Oracular Spectacular: 5/5)

The first time I listened to Oracular Spectacular, I had to turn it off halfway through "Time to Pretend". I just couldn't believe that this was music. I'm from Saudi Arabia. There, Psychedelic music is not very well-known. I was familiar with bands like Pink Floyd, but I used to think that they had their individualistic style which is why they are big. Besides, MGMT sounds completely different than Pink Floyd in my opinion.

After having a few moments with myself, I listened to "Time to Pretend" again and from the beginning, and wow! As the track was playing, I began to recall memories of childhood. And at that moment, I didn't have the slightest idea that I was about to go through an odyssey of memories and wonders. "Weekend Wars" follows, and I was in state of bewilderment; I couldn't comprehend the song's meaning. Then, "The Youth" comes; it is marvelous and meaningful. After that comes the popular "Electric Feel", which I, at first, didn't like because I thought it was too buoyant. But eventually it became one of my all time favorite songs. At this point, we reach "Kids", which is probably MGMT's signature song. "Kids" left me speechless. I admit, sometimes the emotionally-driven music brings tears into my eyes (I don't know what kind of tears, though) same thing happened once with "Time to Pretend". There is something about the music of "Kids" which is beyond magical. I hope one day this song would get ranked as high as "Stairway to Heaven". What follows "Kids" is "4th Dimensional Transition" which is a song on a single note at different levels. But what makes "4th Dimensional Transition" special is how the song is executed; it seems to come out of a surreal and symmetrical painting. "Pieces of What" is supposedly the break from the crazy parade of mixed flamboyant images, but the singing in this song doesn't really relieve headaches (not that you will get a headache after listening to these songs), but it heals a bad mood, somehow. Of Moons, Birds, and Monsters is, in my opinion, the most incomprehensible track on the album. It belied my expectation of what the song would be like when I read the title of the song. However, I was not disappointed. "The Handshake" is a heavy and conclusive song, but it is not the last track on the album. Ironically, it has the lightest tone on the album, as well as the heaviest. It makes you feel as if you are swimming deep in a bright ocean. "Future Reflections" is the farewell of the album. Now, when you listen to the whole album and reach "Future Reflections", you wouldn't think it would be possible to conclude an album such as Oracular Spectacular. But MGMT has done it with "Future Reflections". At times, it feels like it is summing up the album with different vocals, but then you realize that it stands on its own.

Now, the album is done. What do you do now? This is what happened to me after I finished the album. I just sat there wondering what do to next. I didn't want to disappoint myself because what I've just done, which is listening to Oracular Spectacular, is one of the best things I've done to myself. It was like 40 minutes of mixed emotions. I have depression, and feeling emotions other than loath, contempt, misery, and sadness is extremely peculiar. I was happy because I knew that Oracular Spectacular was going to be my escape from those dreaded emotion, and I was right. Sure, those dreaded emotions sometimes follow me when I listen to Oracular Spectacular, and they excavate horrible memories, but I always try to chase them away.

I smoked DMT and played Of Moons, Birds & Monsters... Awesome

Can you guys actually e-mail people who go on your site? Wow, that's pretty awesome. Is it actually you, though? Let's see: e-mail me, please?

peace. (:

I first heard your music about 14 days ago... and I am comepletely and utterly obbsessed with you. Your music really speaks to me and almost brings me to tears. I dont know why. I really love "The Youth". Because it is so absolutely true. And I love how your music is a tad confusing but it leaves you to imagine...

peace.

P.S. You guys are also very cute.(:

dude, everyone of these songs on this album is amazing. SO creative.

Boogie Down is pretty phenominal.
Just saying....
I'd check out Andrew's components any day.

Let's just say that this album is SPECTACULAR!! Electric Feel literally sends electric pulses through my body. Every song has this magical feel to it, this golden quality. I know nothing is perfect, but I am sure as hell that this band is one exception to that rule.

Listening to you sends me to a different land, a land somewhere that is a piece of my brain or a piece of me...that was stolen from me by evil, evil evil in the world (aka evil x3), the evil x3 launched it up into orbit and for the longest time it soared in space and it crashed into an asteroid and it become a land...or a planet revolving with my dreams and imagination, and the music you guys make release this essence in me that takes me out of this human body and to that place...
I thank you.
Here I have adventures, and I dream and I sleep its great, come visit me sometime your always welcome.

I really love this album... It's one of my fave albums. It's just so.. so fascinating and inspiring. Always, when I listen to Of Moons, Birds & Monsters, I want to start drawing something really surrealistic and peculiar... and I think I'll never could get fed up with Pieces of What and The Youth. They're songs that will never fade away. And so is MGMT.
Thank you for existing...

4th Dimensional Transition is wonderful.

I agree with whoever said MGMT reminds them of the Beatles...it's true, I thought I'd never say that though...but I definitely can see that. Smile

Anyways Oracular is just so...cool. I don't know how else to describe it! I love every single song on it, which hasn't happened to me with an album for a long, long time.

p.s. I feel the same way about Congratulations...but instead of cool I'd say...psychedelic and...dare I say..groovy. Smile

"corrinnevanwyngarden" - You need to calm down.

I'm going to marry him :}

ORACULAR SPECTACULAR=pure love and genuis! i love love MGMT for their amazing lyrics. i cant wait to see them in concert. AND AND AND ANDREW IS SOO HOT.

I know Andrew said in an interview he'd like to be compared most to Led Zeppelin but I think MGMT is like The Beatles!
Both groundbreaking, mainstream introductions, but slowly, their music became more inventive, more creative <3

LOVE THEM BOTH!

Of moons, birds, and monsters is an unbelievable song. The mix of vocals and instrumentals is incredible.
