MMOOOAAHHAHAHAHAHA
I HAV THAT CD
I BOUTGH IT IN RELEASE WEEK AT HOT TOPIC
I SAW IT ON THE LITTLE TV THING WER U CAN LISTEN TO ALL THE SONGS AND THE ADD WAS ON TOP.
IT WAS A BUNCH OF GIRL'S BUT AND ONE OF EM HAD A BLOOD SLAP MARK ON THE BUTT
The 1st time i heard "Congratulations" I said "what the f*** is this s***?!" Well I've listened to it about 15 times since then and it is now one of my top 5 favorite albums of all time. I honestly believe if you don't like it the first or second time, you'll probably love it the fifth time. "It's Working" is one of the best opening tracks ever. "Flash Delirium" is a great tune and a good single that still flows with the Psychedelic Surf vibe of the overall album. The only song I don't like is "Lady Dada's Nightmare", I cant stand the screaming and when that song comes on when I'm baked, it's just not good lets leave it at that. Speaking of that, if you listen to this when your high, it will literally FREE your mind. It's the best feeling ever. I really hope your next album has more of a "Congratulations" feel than "Oracular Spectacular" (although I love that one too). Finally, in the approximately 15 times I've listened to "Siberian Breaks" it has become my absolute favorite song of all time ("Paradise City" and "Wish You Were Here" have got moved to the side). Thank you MGMT, for giving us this beautiful gift.
I personally think Congratulations was the best album that MGMT made so far. I mean sure Oracular Spectacular was a great album, but Congratulations had a unique sound that we can't find in recent music. That unique sound is The Psychedelic sound that reminds me of Spacemen 3, Quicksilver Messenger Service,Pink Floyd, Jefferson Airplane, and many more. I think Andrew's voice was so much better in this album it kind of reminded me of David Bowie's voice. I don't really have a favorite song in this album since they are all so great, my favorite line thought is '' I'd rather die before I get sold'' in the song Siberian Breaks. I have seen MGMT live once and the best song they play live is Flash Delirium, it was their first song of the concert. I hope MGMT continues to surprise me with their great music, I think Andrew and Ben are lyric genius, they are also music genius I do not know where they go to get that unique sound, not a lot of people can go and find that special sound that they have. MGMT please keep making great psychedelic music !
I had a friend who wanted to kill himself and the only thing I could do was to show him congratulations and let the music help me tell him how I felt about him and his situation we listened to the whole thing through and he is doing allot better now, and so am I from this album.
I've never had music effect me so much. Whenever I Listen to it, it's as if it's speaking to Me and whoever's with me whether they are Listening or not. Throw it in your cauldron guys.
I could listen to this album into a car wreck.
im so happy that you put out a cd that now can break apart the fans from those people who just like electric feel or kids. siberian breaks reminds me of some old band like the mamas and the papas at the beginning, in a good way, but of course you guys take that sound and make it your own. thanks, good work!
so i've seen many people complain about the album 'congratulations',saying that it is something really different and you guys took a big step, but they actually have no taste in music. I love this album so much, and the new music videos are amazing<333
It is clear that with this album you wanted no "Kids" or "Time to Pretend". Released in a period of economic downturn it suggests that economically it was a failure, but as a piece of music it is utterly without question a masterpiece. No other bands today can create such a piece of music that doesnt seem boring the fifth time you have heard. Everytime you listen to the album you hear something different in the songs and realise why you love it so much. It is simply the greatest album i have ever heard and the track "Siberian Breaks" is without doubt the greatest song I have ever heard. I'm so glad there isn't a "pop" track like "Kids" on this album and it is clear that what you set yourselves out to do with this album was acomplished.
Congratulations is an amazing record. Ever since I bought it I can't stop listening to it. It really is something new everytime I listen to it. One of my favorite albums ever.
this album is really the best, its so different from anything ive heard but its really most amazing. it takes my mind on a journey with the music and can change my mood almost like a drug. i love how each song is original but it all fits together to make a beautiful and inspirational album. hopefully i get to see you in miami
congratulations is totally awesome
(; come to west palm Fl
The album is great, but I'm really disappointed by the LP package. The sleeve is made of flimsy paper stock and it does not come with the booklet that is included in the deluxe CD edition. And the 43 minute album is needlessly split into 2 discs, with side B clocking in at a whopping 8 minutes. I expect more in the packaging when I'm paying $30 (with tax) for an album!
But like I said before, the music on this album is great!
i love the album the songs are amazing and i saw them in kansas ciy on June 13th, we got front row!! i took some pretty cool pics and my sis got to meet Andrew and Matt!
mgmt,i just want to thankz u guys.for making music that me n my friends can get high n just go to a great place.u guys r awesome n i hope that u never break up.
p.s.luv r new album.

Hi guys i just wanna tell you that this album IS pshyhedelic . i really hear something other / more every time i listen to it.
so..i'm in love with that, makes me extremly 'sad'and free in the same time.
anyway the other mgmt songs also fantastic so well done
I've been listening the congratulations album for like an entire week, and i think that is enough time to say what i think.
The sounds of this new album is more mature in comparison with oracular spectacular, i can listen to it strait, without skip any track (from me, it's a lot ).
If you ask me, the best song of the album is Siberian breaks. Just the way how you made it sound, the combination of the melodies... to me, it's twelve minutes of perfection.
Congratulations
The album Congratulations is a chillingly genius album, with a mix of surf melody, and menotinus psychadelia. It is a truly amazing concoction in which the music overtakes your mind! It is far different from the album Oracular Spectacular, in that it attracts the right people. No more posers who only like MGMT for "Kids" "Time to Pretend" & "Electric Feel". This album shakes the band free of the wrong followers. It truely narrows down the psychadelic indie-hippies that really genuinley love MGMT! Very nice album guys! Keep up the good work! I'm already anticipating the next album!!
The album Congratulations is magnificant. Vanwyngarden's lyrics are genius. I was at the Columbus, Ohio show, and it was awesome. I am 35 and I've seen a lot of concerts. I have been listening to MGMT pretty heavily for the past month, and I was totally mesmorized by them live! It was a truly unique live show-I wasn't expecting such intensity from songs that are so emotional for me to come across like that. Those guys rocked. I already can't wait for them to write a new album, not that I am tired of this one yet!
I was disappointed by the crowd - why go to see a band and just talk the whole time? I felt like most of the crowd really didn't know what they were witnessing. Too bad for them!
Every song on this album tells a story. It's AMAZING. I can't get enough of it. It seems like all the lyrics have a secret special surprise hidden in them for us to uncover and interpret on our own. All you guys need is a GREAT BIG CONGRATULATIONS!
May I just mention that I am in love with the video for "It's Working" ? It's bizarre and I love it! The Flash Delirium video was already one of my favorite videos. I always get a huge grin from watching it (especially when I see Ben's face just before he shows his neck to the crowd. That smile is funny for some reason). But this one - I don't know if it's intentional or not, but I can't stop laughing. "It's Working" is hilarious and fun to watch. It's like a bad sitcom that actually has a really deep story to it but only a select few can read through it.
I honestly thought that the next up for a video was going to be Brian Eno, since that was very fun and it was played with Flash Delirium on SNL. However, I love "It's Working," both the song and the video. I especially love it's changeup at the end (the same way that the end of Weekend Wars makes that my 2nd favorite song by MGMT.) Congrats on a vid well done.
Ok to start off, I was at the Red Rocks concert and let me just say it was AMAZING! The rain didn't matter, the music was great! I felt good to see that you guys noticed the everyone had sat through 2 hours of pouring rain to see y'all perform and you gave the crowd a killer performance in return.
Now about the new album, it's awesome! I liked the up beat songs in Oracular Spectacular but the psychedelic sounds of Congratulations interest me more. It seems like every time i listen to the songs I hear different sounds and get a new experience. It's almost like being high and having great revelations, but without the drugs. I like the fact that you guys have pumped more of the sounds and characteristics that y'all like into this album. It really seems like it's more "you". I really feel like the Handshake should've been part of this album, it just seems like it belongs in Congratulations rather than Oracular Spectacular.
I feel like aliens transcended into the earth's atmosphere and set off a magical sound wave that mystically tickled my brain for the entire length of the album. I hear new things every time I listen to it and I thank you for that.
A lot of music today get's upstaged by the repetitive duo of my dishwasher and dryer. Your consistently fresh experimental sounds make you my favorite band. I embrace your song to song changes.
In fact, I hope your next album has a psychedelic Indian influenced space disco sounding song. Check out this record: "Babla's Disco Sensation."
Lastly, I hope to commandeer a Jet Pack to see your show at the Greek in LA. I currently only have $40 total and apparently salt doesn't retain the same trade value as it did in the bronze age. Otherwise, I'd be there. Keep the world dancing on it's toes and playing what sounds cool to you guys regardless the genre earthlings label it as. It makes music fun to listen to.
In conclusion to this mess of words, I'd simply like to make clear that i like your music solely b/c it sounds good.
I think the new album is fantastic..Since I feel like a kid discovering something that holds the past and future all at once I am spellbound. When I'm blessed with new treasure I get excited about life and making music, and Congratulations is a real treasure. You have done a great job and it reminds of the first time I heard Ogden's Nut Gone Flake:) Cheers and all the best..it's hard to make a record that takes the mind on a trip, but you have done it!
I'm really satisfied with the newest album. I honestly can't say which album by MGMT is my favorite! I'm just really sad that there will be no shows in Florida or even the South-Eastern region of the USA . . . I can't really go anywhere else. Many articles warned that the album "Congratulations" would be different from the others in many ways. I honestly don't find it to be all that different, only slightly. I see where different techniques were used, but it's not as if the songs are less fun to listen to. Keep up the great work!
Congratulations was great. they/you werent afraid to make something really different from oracular spectacular and werent looking to please everyone like the singles did and the real fans (myself included)stayed on board. the more i listen to them/you the bigger fan i become. keep at it and cant wait to see MGMT in august (:
I've been listening to you guys since 2006 and I just want to say how just amazing you guys are. All of your music is so creative, and inspiring. I cant wait to go to the concert at the fillmore on june 16th. I love you guys!
I didnt know what to think of it at first. certainly isnt like anything you have put out before. but now i dont think you could have made a better album. Hearing these songs live at the gorge on memorial day was fantastic and i think im going to the block party on capitol hill. good choice opening with pieces of what
