I've been a fan of MGMT for some years, but only just belatedly acquired the 'Another Late Night' UK compilation CD on which the band cover the Bauhaus song 'All we ever wanted'. As a much longer-term, dedicated fan of Bauhaus (since the age of 14 - i.e. 27 years - aaargghh!) I really recommend this as a cover that does the original true justice while giving it a unique MGMT psychedelic twist. Love it. If you do too - check out the live backstage Nine Inch Nails & Peter Murphy version of Sanity Assassin.

Thanks MGMT for loving, sharing and even covering other bands' great tunes!

Already in love with the Congratulations LP and on a mission to collect as much MGMT vinyl as I can, I knew I needed to find this 7" somewhere. I managed to find this treasure after digging through the pile of 45s at Treehouse Records on a trip to Minneapolis, MN.
The song sounds fantastic on vinyl, and I was happily surprised with the B-side, Erol Alkan's remix. Very funky, interesting twist on MGMT's amazing piece.
Also, I loved the little storybook that is built into the packaging for the 7".

    this albums so eerie and beautiful. i love how its recorded more foggy and doesn't sound studio. i bet this album is so good live, you should come to the midwest and play a show. vinyl isn't always enough.

    The remix is fun but I prefer the original.
    The album Congratulations is great anymways. It's been almost a year that I've been listening to it all the time and I'm still as fascinated as always.

    Congrats on Congratulations! Reminds me of early XTC.The songs are fairly haunting, the boys must have been watching a lot of Munsters and Addams Family while trippin,feelin a 60's vibe. Can't get enough of Found a Whistle. Wonder what Brian Eno thinks of Brian Eno. Heard the band is lookin to drift into some newer tunes that they can stretch out into some Deadesque long plays at concerts, can't wait!

    Congratulations was already my favorite song in the world, but then the remix came...and it totally blew my mind. the instrumentals and vocals are amazing. I dont know how they could possibly get any better, but I know that they will find a way.

    Oh and I liked this release. I'm already familiar with the original version of Congratulations (which is great) but the remix was okay. However, the illustration book was brilliant! It makes the video for Congratulations much sadder in my opinion.

    I saw Inside Job, the amazing film by Charles Ferguson about the politicians, academics, regulators, bankers, etc. who brought us the current economic crisis, and "Congratulations" plays over the credits at the end. It is the best song--the music, the lyrics, every bit of it works. Not sure what the video means, except it is really sad.
